A new Tierra Encantada Spanish immersion daycare will transform the former Slumberland at at 4140 Excelsior Blvd. after the building sold for $2.6 million.

Fast-growing Spanish immersion daycare and preschool Tierra Encantada plans to open a new location in a St. Louis Park building that currently houses a Slumberland outlet.

Oakdale, Minnesota-based Slumberland Furniture says on its website that it recently lost its lease at its St. Louis Park Clearance Outlet at 4140 Excelsior Blvd. Edina-based Told Development recently bought the property for $2.6 million, according to a certificate of real estate value.

Slumberland is slated to close at the end of March.

The building will be redeveloped into a daycare run by Minneapolis-based Tierra Encantada. Tierra lists eight centers around the Twin Cities, including the Excelsior location. Its website says the St. Louis Park daycare is slated to open in the fall or winter of 2024.

Tierra Encantada was founded in 2013 by CEO Kristen Denzer, a Business Journal 2023 40 under 40 honoree. Tierra Encantada has become a fast-growing franchise, with $22 million in revenue, 11 locations in four states and 20 franchise units under development. Its revenue has grown over 62% from 2019 to 2021, making it a 2022 Fast 50 winner.
