'Virgin River' Fans, You'll Want to Read This Update on the Show's Future

May 29, 2023May 29, 2023

Virgin River fans, we finally have news regarding the fifth season! But, before you get super excited, let us skip straight to the point: It's going to be a while.

While the first two seasons of the beloved Netflix show premiered in fall, the second two debuted in summer. Because of this, we had high hopes that we’d get to cozy up with Mel, Jack, and the gang this July. Unfortunately, Netflix finally announced that the fifth season will air sometime in fall 2023, though the exact date is still TBD.

But there's good news, too! According to Deadline, Virgin River has already been picked up for a sixth season, before the fifth has even been released! So, while we will have to be patient for the upcoming seasons, at least there's assurance that there will be plenty of episodes to document the drama and small-town love that's bound to unfold between Jack and Mel, as well as the rest of the Virgin River cast.

As a refresher, we learned in season four that Jack is the father of Mel's baby, however, in the finale, it was revealed that he wasn't actually the father of Charmaine's twins. And after all the drama that ensured between then, and in the love triangle as a whole, that was a pretty big cliffhanger.

Outside of Mel and Jack, the season 4 conclusion saw Ricky off to the military, a safe reunion for Paige and Christopher, and Denny's Huntington's disease reveal. All of these things come with their own set of questions, though. With Ricky away and Denny denying a future with Lizzie, how will she move forward? Meanwhile, while Paige and Christopher are safe, Preacher was in large part to thank, considering he knocked Vince out. TBD on whether it was a fatal blow or he's simply unconscious.

As much as these cliffhangers nag at us—especially knowing that it will be quite some time before we learn any type of resolution—we have peace knowing that we can visit Virgin River any time, any day thanks to all seasons being streamable on Netflix.
